Moldovan parliament speaker awards European poets

Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Spring of Poets 2015 International Festival designated its winners, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Writers from Moldova, Romania, Russian and the Netherlands received diplomas and monetary awards from Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, at an event held at the Writers' Union. The speaker offered five awards in the Cultural Relations and Best Poetry Book categories. The prizes were awarded by Deputy Culture Minister Gheorghe Postica.
Writers Adi Cristea (Romania), Silvia Caloianu (Moldova), Jan Willem Bos (Netherlands), Lilya Gazizova (Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation) and Jan H. Mysjkin (Belgium) were awarded by the parliament speaker for their outstanding contribution in promoting intercultural dialogue and strengthen spiritual bridges between countries through original literary creations and translations.
"Already for the fifth consecutive year, the Writers' Union of Moldova manages to capture the beauty of poetry in our country and bring to Chisinau and other localities the most acclaimed writers of contemporary poetry, valuable talents of Moldova and other countries. The poem was and always remains a binder of intercultural communication. So many poets coming together can only bring us the long-awaited spring", said the parliament speaker to the writers participating in the festival.
Andrian Candu added that the Association Agreement with the European Union was a path towards progress and modernisation for Moldova, which facilitated the integration of national heritage in the European cultural circuit.
The president of the Writers' Union of Moldova, Arcadie Suceveanu congratulated the winners of the festival, noting that it was the duty of writers to further contribute to bring closer and develop European cultural spaces through their works.
For his part, Deputy Culture Minister George Postica said the annual festival gathered prominent people from different countries and promoted interesting literary projects.
Spring of Poets 2015 International Festival, organised by the Writers' Union of Moldova, is at its fifth edition. The project consisted in a series of cultural activities held on 6-9 May, to return poetry to public attention. Poets and translators of poetry from 12 European countries participated in this year’s event.
