Moldovan PM demand strict supervision of arrested businessman

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici asked for strict supervision of businessman Ilan Shor, to exclude his departure from the country. The PM made the demand to the Interior Ministry at an operative cabinet meeting, held at the Justice Ministry today morning, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

"Mr. Minister Balan, there is some information in media that Ilan Shor might leave the country. Given that the businessman is accused in the criminal file opened on misappropriation from the Savings Bank (Banca de Economii), Social Bank (Banca Sociala) and Unibank, I ask you, during his home arrest, to boost monitoring his dwelling, so that we should avoid the situation that he left the country and cannot be found. Currently, the situation in financial and banking system is extremely important for the country. Therefore, we cannot afford any system error in this case," Gaburici said.

Last week, after the head of the National Anticorruption Centre had said in the parliament that a part of the missing money from banks would be, in certain forms, in investments made at the Chisinau International Airport, the premier asked urgently to convene an inter-departmental working group, due to unveil a report on possible infringements at the Airport.

The interdepartmental group, coordinated by the National Anticorruption Centre, jointly with the Civil Aeronautic Authority, Interior Ministry, Economics Ministry, Finance Ministry, are to submit to the government, by late this week, a comprehensive analysis on the situation as regards possible infringements at the airport, to identify whether there are infringements or not, what are they and who is guilty. 

At the today's operative meeting, the ministers unveiled to the prime minister complex reports on turning to good account the funds provided to Moldova by foreign partners. Also, they analysed the debts in this respect and actions due to be taken by each institution, in order to efficiently use the money.
