Moldovan premier holds phone talk with Romanian counterpart

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici held a phone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta today. Gaburici invited the head of the Romanian National Anticorruption Directorate, Laura Codruta Kovesi, to pay a working visit to Moldova next week, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The invitation was launched, as Chiril Gaburici had announced more anti-corruption initiatives, among which the boosting of reform of law-enforcement bodies – the Prosecutor General’s Office, National Integrity Commission (CNI), and the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA).
„We are very determined to fight corruption at all levels and Romania is a positive example for Moldova in this respect. Therefore, we believe that namely direct talks with Kovesi and presentation of efficient practices of fighting corruption in Romania will encourage the Moldovan authorities to be firmer in actions they are to undertake, in order to fight the phenomenon of corruption in all systems,” Gaburici said.
In Chisinau, Laura Codruta Kovesi is to meet CNA Head Viorel Chetraru, CNI Head Anatolie Donciu, Justice Minister Vladimir Grosu, Interior Minister Oleg Balan, as well as other responsible persons in the area.
On the next period, a team of experts, led by former Georgian President, Advisor to Ukrainian President Mikhail Saakashvili, who has experience in implementing reforms and fighting corruption at all levels, will come to Moldova. Chiril Gaburici discussed the matter during his last week visit to Kiev, Ukraine. The experts will analyse the situation in Moldova and will set exact actions due to be taken to fight corruption.
