Moldovan regional road to be restored with World Bank's support

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/- An important regional and a local roads network from the central Straseni and Orhei districts, due to make connection between 22 settlements and ensure residents' access to national roads, will be restored the next three years.
According to the Transport and Roads Infrastructure Ministry, once this project implemented, access will be ensured for 45 school institutions and 12 health centres from rural areas.
"We have already started the rehabilitation of 21 km of local road, which connects the villages of Voinova, Chirianca, Zubresti, Recea and Ghelauza. Fifteen million lei was used from the road fund to this end in 2014. We will continue the road repair, that will be asphalted and will have two lanes, and to this end, we earmarked another 35 million lei from the road fund," Transport Minister Vasile Botnari said.
At the same time, the minister noted that another road segment, that will further connect the villages of Chirianca – Zubresti – Galesti – Galestii Noi – Bucovaț, was proposed to be included in the programme on restoration of local roads, backed by the World Bank.
Also, the road that connects Straseni to Saca, Martinesti, Greblesti, Codreanca, Lupa-Recea, Tabara, Vatici, Curchi, Morozeni, Breanova, Tirzieni, Malaiesti was proposed to be included in the WB project.
In 2015, about 700 km of roads and streets within settlements are to be repaired, for which 450 million lei is seen from the road fund.
