Moldovan PM, anti-corruption experts meet in Chisinau

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today had a meeting with experts Giorgi Arveladze, the former economics minister and head of the Administration of the former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and ex-minister of justice of Georgia Giorgi Tskhakaia, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The reformers unveiled to the prime minister the findings of a comprehensive analysis of the situation in Moldova, with special emphasis put on corruption-related risks. The sides considered the main causes and impediments, which led to the enhancement of the perception of corruption in the society and diminution of the citizens' trust in the state's institutions.
The experts came with a string of recommendations to improve the situation, based on experience and measures applied in other countries. which yielded positive results.
The prime minister made a review of the recently launched initiatives, in order to achieve the priority objective - fighting corruption. Chiril Gaburici said the assistance and expertise of the foreign reformers, which had been successful in the anti-corruption sector in different countries, was very important for Moldova. At the same time, the prime minister specified that he would act openly and transparently in this process, by consulting his initiatives with the civil society in detail.
The interlocutors discussed measures that would be opportune for Moldova and agreed on further cooperation, with participation of representatives of competent institutions of Moldova and experts from other countries, including on priority fields of the Moldovan government: national unity, supremacy of law and sustainable economy.
