Twenty six OSCE observers to monitor general local polls due in Moldova on 14 June

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - Twelve Chisinau-based OSCE observers and another 14 long-term ones, who are to come to Moldova next week, will monitor the general local elections due on 14 June 2015.
The head of the mission, Kimmo Kiljunen, told a today's news conference that the main task of the experts would be to monitor the elections as to their compliance with the OSCE commitments, other international standards for democratic polls, as well as with the national legislation.
"We do not analyse the results of the elections as such, but the legislative framework for the polls' organisation, way the electoral campaign is carried out, its financing, covering in the media, etc," Kiljunen said.
During observation actions, the mission will meet representatives of the state authorities, political parties and candidates, as well as representatives of the civil society, media and international community.
The OSCE limited election observation mission will accompany a delegation of the Council of Europe's Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in making a declaration of preliminary findings on the day after the polls.
A final report on the observation of the entire electoral process will be published by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) two months after the end of the electoral process.
