Two candidates for Chisinau general mayor post officially start electoral campaign

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ -The European Platform of Moldova – Iurie Leanca electoral block and the Liberal Party’s candidate for the office of Chisinau general mayor, Dorin Chirtoaca officially started the electoral campaign today.
During the launch of the electoral bloc, the list of persons put up for the post of councillor of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) was read.
The leader of the European Popular Platform of Moldova (PPEM), Iurie Leanca, said that ”when selecting the people for the position of councillor, emphasis was put on experts and not on well-known people”. He also said the bloc’s candidate for the general mayor office, Oazu Nantoi, ”is a honest and ambitious person, with vast political and institutional experience”.
For his part, Oazu Nantoi, said that his priority as to development of Chisinau represented the fight against corruption.
Also today, the present Chisinau mayor, Dorin Chirtoaca ,presented his priorities for a new mandate. Among them, there are: creating new jobs, renewing the trolleybuses and buses park, carrying out the thermal insulation of blocks of flats, continuing to modernise the main network of roads and solving the problem of waste.
The local elections will be held on 14 June. Last week, the period for submitting the files for the Chisinau general mayor office ended and the electoral campaign for local elections started officially. Fourteen candidates compete for the post of general mayor.
