Moldovan deputy premier attends meeting of committee of ministers of Council of Europe

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovan delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, attended a meeting of committee of ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), held in Brussels today. Attending the event were foreign ministers of the 47 member states of organisation, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's communication and media relations service has reported.
In her speech, Gherman pointed out the support offered by the Council of Europe since the accession stage, and the need to promote joint responsibility to ensure democratic security in Europe. Also, the official evoked the country's European integration goal and impact of structured partnership of CoE with EU, as well as the support of Council of Europe for the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
The officials approved a string of decisions on the second annual report by the Secretary General on the state of human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe, as well as decisions focused on effectiveness of monitoring the European Convention of Human Rights, the Neighborhood Policy of the Council of Europe and CoE-EU cooperation.
Also, the committee of ministers took note of the ninth consolidated report by the Secretary General of CoE on conflict in Georgia, report on ECHR reform.
A ceremony of taking over presidency of committee of ministers by Bosnia and Herzegovina took place at the end of the meeting.
