Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Riscani Court of the Chisinau municipality sentenced ex-Finance Minister Veaceslav Negruta to three years of imprisonment with suspension for abuse of power „in case of Pantelei Sandulachi”.
Veaceslav Negruta was charged with abuse of power, as the institution he led paid to former MP Pantelei Sandulachi a moral damage of 400,000 euros, without appealing the decision.
In 2012, Pantelei Sandulachi sued the state for dragging the examination of more files, in which he was accused of falsification of public documents.
Sandulachi won the case, but the prosecution appealed the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice, which ruled that Sandulachi should receive only 1,000 euros and not 400,000 euros and the rest of the money should be returned to the state, which has not happened so far.
For his part, Veaceslav Negruta pleads not guilty. On 19 May, Negruta said that he would appeal the decision at the Court of Appeal and that „the issued sentence is a political one”.
