French ambassador to Moldova urges authorities to join efforts to implement reforms

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - Increasing French investments in Moldova, European integration and reforms to modernise the country, the domestic political context and agenda of the bilateral ties were the main subjects tackled at a meeting between Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of France to Moldova Pascal Vagogne, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.  

Andrian Candu and Pascal Vagogne welcomed the Moldovan-French relations on the rise and exchanged opinions on prospects for new cooperation between the two countries.

The speaker said that France was an important partner for Moldova, and the latter's affiliation with the family and values of the French-speaking countries represented a key element in developing the Moldovan-French relations.

The parliament speaker thanked the French authorities for the support provided to Moldova in European integration. Candu reiterated the Moldovan parliament's interest in strengthening the relations between the parliaments of the two countries, for transfer of expertise and good parliamentary practices to enforce the Association Agreement with the European Union.

For his part, Pascal Vagogne gave assurances that France would continue backing Moldova's European integration and urged the authorities to join efforts to implement the reforms, stressing, in this context, the importance of communicating with the citizens. According to the French diplomat, the interest of his country in the region has increased, as France is much more interested in the Eastern Partnership.
