Moldova signs International Energy Charter

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/- Moldova has made a step reconfirming its integration into the EU and European energy market. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Stephane Bride today signed International Energy Charter in the Hague.
The signing of the document took place within a ministerial conference on International Energy Charter, held in the Hague on 20-21 May, with the participation of energy ministers, foreign and trade ministers from about 80 countries, according to a communique by the Economics Ministry.
"This partnership is an important instrument for us, by which the national energy market will gradually become a part of European energy market. The strategic approach to Energy Charter Treaty is a common way that we explore", he said.
Bride said that among the strategic priorities of the government in the sector are strengthening transit country status for electric energy and gas. The goal will be achieved by consolidating transport connections and turning to good account commercial and exploitation capacity of the internal capacity of generating electric energy. The priorities are fitted into the final text of the International Energy Charter.
On 21 May, a high-ranking business event will be organised for directors of international energy institutions, dedicated to investments in energy. The head of security and energy efficiency department of the Economics Ministry, Mariana Botezatu, will attend the event.
