Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan and Romanian Prime Ministers Chiril Gaburici and, respectively, Victor Ponta signed a memorandum of understanding on implementation of projects necessary for interconnection of gas and electricity networks between Moldova and Romania in Chisinau today.
The memorandum contains provisions on the expanding of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline up to Chisinau on Moldova’s territory and up to Onesti on Romania’s territory, and the Isaccea –Vulcanesti – Chisinau electrical interconnection.
„This agreement will create prerequisites for Moldova’s integration into the European energy market. This does not mean giving up other providers, but ensuring energy stability,” Chiril Gaburici said.
For his part, Victor Ponta said that Romania was the main support partner for Moldova and that he would like „the Romanian gas, power, highways to cross the Prut”.
As for the Romanian citizen who was banned from entering Moldova, Ponta said that „only justice may clear up this case”.
Victor Ponta is on a one-day visit to Moldova. He is also to meet Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu. Last time, Ponta visited Chisinau on 10 October 2014.
