Moldovan parliament speaker, Romanian premier tackle bilateral ties, economic projects

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today had a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, on a visit to Chisinau, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The main subjects tackled at the meeting were focused on aspects of the bilateral ties' agenda, present economic projects, Moldova's European integration and domestic political developments.
The speaker appreciated the diversification and strengthening of the dialogue between Moldova and Romania, recorded at various levels over the last period. "We experience the best and the nicest period from the pragmatic viewpoint and the one of concrete results, including in terms of the projects carried out by Moldova and Romania. I am happy that much of what was declared at the political level has been implemented in practice in the energy, culture, social, transport, health, education sectors," Andrian Candu said.
According to Candu, Moldova will continue advancing on the European integration path, implementing the agenda of reforms to modernise the country, even in the conditions of a minority government. The speaker informed that the Moldovan authorities' priorities remained the justice reform, fighting corruption and attracting foreign investments in the country's economy. Candu deems as important the development of more economic projects by Romania in Moldova, given that Romania was the principal economic partner of Moldova in 2014, both in terms of imports and exports.
Referring to the commitment to build concrete platforms of communication with the authorities of the Gagauz autonomy and Transnistrian region, Andrian Candu asked for Romania's support to complement the books' fund in libraries of the autonomy and start courses of Romanian language in Gagauz schools.
At the same time, Andrian Candu said that the Moldovan officials were considering a request by the Bucharest authorities to give Romanians possibility enter Moldova with identity cards.
For his part, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta reconfirmed the unconditional support of Romania for development of Moldova and its integration into the European Union. According to the official, Romania, on the immediately next period, will propose to launch large-scale economic projects in strategic areas for Moldova, for which there is support in Bucharest, as financial sources and investments have been identified.
"Romania will remain, in any conditions, the main advocate of Moldova in its development. Romania has proved that time is ripe to switch from nice words to concrete deeds through projects carried out in various sectors," the Romanian prime minister added.
