Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - A business mission to the Baltic States was a successful one. All Moldovan enterprises participating in the mission had possibility to find partners in the three EU member states – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Valeriu Lazar said at news conference today.
Lazar made a report on the mission, held on 18 – 22 May and was aimed at discovering new sales markets for the Moldovan products and at familiarizing with the experience of the Baltic States as to the economic integration into the European Union.
The mission was organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with the European Business Association, within the project titled: “DCFTA. Informing and Capacity Building of Economic Agents" and East Invest Project.
Lazar also specified that, during the mission, representatives of the Moldovan business – food and textile industries, had held tens of meetings, visits to producers, importers and distributors and took part in more bilateral business forums, as well as in the Eastern Partnership Business Forum in Riga.
Unlike the Baltic States, which integrated politically and economically, EU provided Moldova with possibility of economic integration and the latter's successful achievement represents a premise for the future political integration. “The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova is set to be one of the leader support institutions for business in the European integration process and the experience of the three countries may be quite useful for us to speed up compliance with rules of the European Union,” Lazar said.
The CCI head highlighted that most Moldovan companies had set cooperation contacts with potential partners from the Baltic States and agreed on organizing business visits to Moldova in the near future.
At the end of the conference, Valeriu Lazar informed that CCI would organise, within the same project, a business mission to Milan, Italy, in next June, for Moldovan economic operators' participation in the World Exhibition 2015.
