Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov met British Ambassador to Moldova Philip Batson and Director of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Sarah Swinford today, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The officials exchanged opinions on the latest developments recorded in the Transnistrian conflict settlement, aspects of the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue, as well as prospects of the negotiation process. Osipov emphasised the importance to bolster confidence and enhance attractiveness of Moldova – as basic elements in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and Moldova’s reintegration.

Victor Osipov thanked Great Britain for the support provided to Moldova for transforming and Europeanising the country and highlighted the importance of support London was providing to strengthen confidence between the two banks of Dniester.

For his part, Philip Batson assured that the United Kingdom, as EU member, would further back Moldova’s pro-European aspirations and need of final settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, based on principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.
