Moldova to cooperate with Eurojust, Europol

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will cooperate with Eurojust. The parliament ratified an agreement to this end today.
According to an information note of the draft, "agreement's ratification will allow the law enforcement bodies to enforce the provisions of the national and international legislative framework on international legal assistance in criminal matters, in line with European standards".
At the parliament meeting, General Prosecutor Corneliu Gurin said that the agreement's implementation could be carried out by detaching a prosecutor to Eurojust in a city from the Netherlands or by appointing a prosecutor, Eurojust Contact Point, localized at its basic office in Moldova.
The cooperation agreement between Moldova and Eurojust was signed on 10 July 2014. Eurojust is a EU agency, set up, in particular, to fight organised cross-border criminality.
Today, the parliament ratified the agreement on operational and strategic cooperation between Moldova and European Police Office (Europol).
