Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted in two readings the draft law on Moldova's accession to the regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin.

According to briefing note to the draft, accession to the concerned Convention may have economic benefits for Moldova, especially in terms of opportunities to attract investments in the industrial and raw material processing sectors. The member states of the Convention apply the same set of rules of origin, which allows giving the same preferential rules of origin regime to all goods got in the respective countries.

The convention was adopted in Brussels in December 2009 and 42 states have joined it so far.

The parliament also ratified a cooperation protocol on general terms and conditions for development between the Moldovan and Turkish governments today. This document will create prerequisites for implementing projects in agriculture, support for anti-poverty programmes, institutional capacity building, strengthening administrative structures and capacities of public administration.
