Russian, Moldovan premiers tackle bilateral ties

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today morning had a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Burabay city, Kazakhstan, which hosts the Summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The talks between the two prime ministers included the current stage and prospects of bilateral relations between Moldova and Russia; the officials stressed the need to continue a pragmatic dialogue with the Russia.
At the meeting, the sides agreed to resume the work of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Moldova and Russia, which is a good platform for discussion between the two sides in all areas. "This is the best platform for a constructive and pragmatic approach of all subjects on the bilateral agenda," said Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.
The Moldovan prime minister thanked his Russian counterpart for the first steps made to resume exports of agricultural products for some companies from Moldova. In this context, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici spoke out for developing constructive relations with Russia.
"Choosing the European vector is not a choice against Russia. The economic areas are compatible, and cooperation in this regard is beneficial to both countries, "said Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.
For his part, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev agreed to improve economic relations, beneficial for both economies. Moreover, Dmitry Medvedev expressed Russia’s willingness to continue the reopening of the Russian market for Moldovan products. "The dialogue between our countries must continue in a constructive manner," said the Russian official.
Chiril Gaburici and Dmitry Medvedev also tackled issues of cooperation in the energy and social sectors.
Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici is on a two-day visit to Kazakhstan, attending the Summit of the Heads of Governments of the CIS Member States.
