Smoking in public areas to be forbidden in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/ - Smoking in closed and semi-closed public areas, at the workplace and in public transport will be prohibited. Those who will not observe these rules will be fined. The parliament today passed in second reading a draft law to this effect, with the vote of 69 MPs.
The document provides sanctions of up to 10,000 lei for managers of areas where the smoking is forbidden, and of up to 1,400 lei for people who will smoke in public areas, at the workplace and in the public transport.
At the same time, it will be forbidden the selling of tobacco products and those containing nicotine in markets between 22.00–08.00. Interdictions will also be put on selling of cigarettes to minors, visible exhibition of tobacco products in markets and publicity to cigarettes.
Tobacco products containing food additives, which provide taste, or addition of vitamins, which create the impression that the product is beneficent for health, will also be prohibited. Fines of up to 10,000 lei will be put to introduction of tobacco products containing ingredients prohibited by the law on the market.
