Premier grateful to EU Delegation for supporting European path of Moldova

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici participated in the ceremony of closing of the European Union and Eastern Partnership (EaP) Football Tournament on 31 May. The event was organized in the context of Europe Day 2015 and its goal was to promote the European assistance provided to Moldova, EaP one, as well as the neighbourhood policy, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
„By organising this tournament, we communicated once again about the European values and about what the European Union means for Moldova. If you want to get far, go certainly. If you want to get on, go together. I am grateful to the EU delegation for that it backs us to continue the European path of Moldova,” Chiril Gaburici said.
Nine teams, made up of representatives of EU member states diplomatic missions and EaP ones, fought for the cup of the EU and EaP Football Tournament. Gaburici and the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova awarded the winners the tournament cup, golden, silver and bronze medals. The team of Spanish Embassy in Chisinau won the tournament and the EU Delegation team ranked the second.
„ Moldova was the leader among the EaP countries and won the bronze medal. This event offered us the possibility to see which the power of EU and EaP is. It was a friendly cooperation,” Head of EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said.
Chiril Gaburici also got a gift from Tapiola – sports equipment with symbols of the European Union. „We are members of the same team and I want us to go forward together,” Pirkka Tapiola said.
At the end, First Deputy President of the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF), Mihai Anghel, gave to the two officials by a scarf with FMF logo.
The EU Delegation to Moldova organised the mentioned football tournament and was held on 30-31 May.
