Moldovan premier says agreements reached with Belarusian, Russian partners on import in fruits, vegetables

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - „We agreed with Belarusian and Russian partners as on the export in Moldovan fruits and vegetables,” Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici said at an operative cabinet meeting today. „In Kazakhstan, I met my Belarusian counterpart Andrei Kobyakov and agreed that Belarus will facilitate both the import and transit of fruits and vegetables from Moldova, especially of perishable ones. We are to develop this opportunity,” Gaburici said, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The prime minister specified that Russian partners also voiced willingness to resume the import of Moldovan agricultural products. „Russia is no longer so reserved as to the Moldovan fruits and vegetables. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that they are open to discuss with Moldovan producers, in order to make sure of the quality of Moldovan products, as well as to prevent import of foreign products to the Russian market via Moldova,” Chiril Gaburici said.

Gaburici also informed about the implementation, starting from 1 June, of a framework mechanism on cooperation between insurance companies from the two banks of the Dniester as regards the mandatory vehicle liability insurance. Already ten out of the 14 insurance companies have signed this document, which stipulates the issuance of insurance policies recognized on the two banks of the Dniester.

Chiril Gaburici also requested Interior Minister Oleg Balan to give explanations on the suspension of financing in amount of 2.4 million euros, provided by the Swedish embassy, in order to continue the reform of the Interior Ministry. Gaburici demanded e clearing up of the situation and proposing solutions as soon as possible.

The cabinet members also approached the renovation of the district schools, for which the World Bank provided a 40-million-dollar-worth loan, as budgetary support. Education Minister Maia Sandu said that the standards according to which these institutions were renovated involve higher costs than in line with international standards. In this respect, Chiril Gaburici asked for the creation of a working group of representatives of the Education Ministry, Health Ministry and Regional Development and Constructions Ministry, in order to revise the technical constructions regulations.

The today cabinet meeting was held at the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry.
