Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics Ministry today presented the results of the transposition of the EU legislation in the energy sector at a meeting of the government's Commission for European Integration.
"We made progress in transposing the EU energy legislation comparable to those of the countries that started reforms long before us, and the institutions took within a very short time to understand and be adapted to EU concepts," said Deputy Economics Minister Valeriu Triboi. Among the most visible results in terms of integration into the European energy market, there was the implementation of the Third Energy Package, which provides for transposition of EU directives and regulations into the national law.
According to the Economics Ministry’s information and media communication service, new draft laws on electricity and national gas were developed with the support of the Energy Community Secretariat and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) experts. These projects will be adopted by late 2015.
"Moldova became a full-fledged member of the Energy Community Treaty in 2010 and, having less time available compared to other member countries that started reforms in the energy sector five years earlier, achieved the expected results at the same time", said Valeriu Triboi.
Among other achievements, Moldova developed a draft law on promoting the use of renewable energy, adopted a law on labeling of energy-related products, four European regulations on labeling and standard product information, consumption of energy and other resources of products with energy impact in the European Union.
Moldova will implement the EU Directive on imposing the bond for the Energy Community member states to maintain minimum stocks of crude oil and/or petroleum products by 1 January 2023. The directive sees that member states maintain minimum stocks of crude oil and / or petroleum products to ensure security of oil supply in the event of possible interruptions. The Economics Ministry will draft a law on minimum stocks of petroleum products and the necessary secondary legislation, which is to into account the peculiarities of the oil products market in Moldova.
