Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/ - Environment Minister Sergiu Palihovici and his Romanian counterpart Gratiela Gavrilescu have discussed more issues of boosting the bilateral cooperation in the concerned area in Bucharest.
The meeting took place during a visit paid by Palihovici to Romania, on 2-3 June, where he attended an event dedicated to the World Environment Day titled „Seven billion dreams. One planet. Consume with care”.
The officials tackled the support provided to Moldova by Romania via the agreement on implementation of technical and financial assistance programme, based on the 100-million-euro-worth non-reimbursable aid. The sides decided to speed up domestic procedures for the entrance into force of the third additional protocol to the aforementioned accord, which stipulates the earmarking of 15 million euros for the Moldovan environment sector. This would allow reorienting priorities and updating the list of projects in the context of signing the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement and present geopolitical situation.
Palihovici proposed to organise the next meeting of the joint commission in Chisinau in next October. At the same time, Palihovici invited Gratiela Gavrilescu to pay an official visit to Moldova on 16-18 July.
Palihovici also met President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania Valeriu Zgonea, and European Funds Minister Marius Minister Nica. Sergiu Palihovici also participated in the action “Roaba de cultura” (Culture Wheelbarrow), which is part of the project of innovative proposals developed by the Green Revolution Association, with the support of the Bucharest Administration of Lakes, Parks and Recreation..
Palihovici also visited the Constanta Nord waste-water treatment plant, where he familiarised with the experience of Romanian colleagues in terms of regionalization of the water supply and sewerage services.
