Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today participated in a meeting of activists and members of trade unions from Moldova, dedicated to the Trade Unionist Day, marked yearly on 7 June. The event was an occasion for assessing the work of the National Trade Unions Confederation (CNSM) and national branch trade unions during one year, as well as for setting priorities for the next period, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

The participants in the event tackled the measures taken by trade unionists to promote the basic principles of European social model. The speakers said that solidarity, social dialogue development, achievement of social justice and dignity of labor were the main factors of the trade union activity from Moldova. Also, they remarked the progress in development of dialogue between social partners and state institutions.

"For the first time ever in Moldova's history, the prime minister assumed leading the national commission for consultations and collective negotiations, and we believe that this will lead to increasing responsibility both of the government and employers and trade unions, i. e. of those who represent the interests of employees", CNSM head Oleg Budza said. He also said that the commission's meeting from 4 June 2015 had been constructive.

In his speech, the prime minister expressed confidence that settlement of problems voiced by unionists, as well as other issues related to improvement of social and economic situation in the Moldova represented a common responsibility. He opted for joining efforts of all interested factors and called on the unionists to actively involve and contribute to improving the Moldovans' living standards. "Only through communication, consensus and cooperation, we will manage to find common ground," he said.

CNSM brings together over 500,000 members from 29 national trade unions. Since February 2010, it has become a member of the International Confederation of Trade Unions.
