Moldovan parliament to host Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation session

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament will host the 45th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). The reunion will take place from 8 to 10 June 2015, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The opening plenary session is scheduled for 9 June. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the acting president of PABSEC and Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, the chairwoman-in-office of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) will deliver greeting messages to the participants in the meeting.

The debates and the statements of the heads of national delegations to the PABSEC will focus on the topic "Parliamentary contribution to the implementation of the BSEC Economic Agenda 2012 – the current situation and prospects".

The participants will discuss and approve the reports and recommendations of the three specialised committees of PABSEC. The Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee will discuss the report on the role of new technologies in the development and enhancement of the BSEC member states. The Legal and Political Affairs Committee will open for debate the report on the fundamental principles of electoral legislation in the BSEC member states. The Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee will debate the report on the role of sport in promoting growth, employment and social cohesion in the BSEC region.

The PABSEC vice-presidents and the vice-president in charge of financial matters will be elected during the session.

The session will be preceded by meetings of the PABSEC Bureau and the Standing Committee, which will take place today.

At the end of the 45th session, the PABSEC presidency will be transmitted, according to the principle of rotation, to the Romanian parliament. The Moldovan parliament held the PABSEC chairmanship in the first half of 2015.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), created in 1993, includes 12 countries - Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey, Serbia and Ukraine.
