Moldovan speaker opts for developing more economic projects between Black Sea region's countries

Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/- MPs of 12 countries participate in the 45th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), hosted by the Moldovan parliament, on 9-10 June, the parliament's communication and media relations department has reported.
Attending the event was also Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.
The speaker highlighted the important role of economic cooperation in developing more regional projects. "The economic cooperation between the Black Sea region's countries represents a valuable opportunity that will bring benefits to all states of the region, contributing to stability and prosperity in the region", Candu said.
The speaker opted for boosting the economic cooperation between PABSEC countries, noting that the integration of economic processes represented a way to transform the Black Sea region into a zone of stability, prosperity and peace.
Candu also touched upon the importance of better coordination and synchronisation of activities between PABSEC and BSEC, mainly, calendar of events at parliamentary and governmental level. "Mutual recognition of university diplomas, emergency medical and technical assistance services, fight against organised crime, human trafficking are in which the PABSEC states could cooperate more intensive. The projects on development of transport infrastructure and energy sector, including by Moldova's interconnection to European energy network and construction of ring road around the Black Sea must be further supported", he said.
At the same time, Candu pointed out the intention of the Black Sea region's states to consolidate the PABSEC status in order to transform the organisation into a full fledged international parliamentary institution, which would respond to changes and challenges generated by the international situation and regional context.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman welcomed the MPs of the PABSEC countries.
The lawmakers will discuss and approve reports and recommendations of the three specialised commissions of PABSEC.
On 10 June, the PABSEC presidency will be transmitted to the Romanian parliament, according to the rotation principle. The Moldovan parliament held the PABSEC presidency for the first half of 2015.
The PABSEC, set up in 1993, includes 12 member states - Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Serbia and Ukraine.
