Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is a small country, but with a rather high investment potential. But for this, political stability, fighting corruption and bureaucracy are necessary. Belgian Ambassador to Moldova and Romania Philippe Beke made statements to this effect at a today news conference.
Philippe Beke, who ends his mission, said that the most important resource of Moldova was people and the state should provide them with jobs and impede migration, as „one cannot have a developed economy without a strengthened civil society”.
As for the European integration, Beke highlighted that Belgium backed Moldova’s European path, as well as reforms in the judicial system.
„The justice sector needs reforms, especially in the area of transparency and investigations on fraud at the three must be completed,” Beke specified.
The ambassador underlined that most Belgian investments in Moldova were made in the agricultural sector and the Moldovan products were good for export, „only it is necessary to adjust the present legal framework in the sector to EU one”.
Forty four Moldovan-Belgian companies are registered in Moldova, which created over 2,500 jobs.
