Moldova speaks out for enhancing cultural dialogue with Azerbaijan

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici today received Rovshan Muradov, Director Executive of the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre in Azerbaijan, – a cultural organisation which brings together more international personalities recognized all over the world, including former heads of state, prime ministers and other high-ranking officials, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Rovshan Muradov said that the centre’s goal was to promote tolerance and understanding between nations, by organizing events meant to contribute to preserving cultural patrimony, encouraging knowledge, research and social mobilization activities. Muradov showed the aforementioned centre’s interest in enhancing Moldova’s participation in activities organised by this organisation. „Taking into consideration that Moldova is recognized as leader within the Eastern Partnership and enjoys an increased interest on behalf of international partners, we deem it as opportune to consider possible cooperation projects, which will also contribute to fostering the Moldovan-Azeri ties,” Muradov said.
Gaburici praised the experience of Azerbaijan in organizing large-scale international events. „The way more international events, such as Eurovision, Formula 1, as well as forums which brought together personalities from all over the world to debate up-to-date subjects in various sectors, were organised, represents an example worth be followed and may be a subject to experience exchange between Moldova and Azerbaijan,” Gaburici said.
The officials also broached the first European Olympic Games in history, due in Baku, on 12-28 June. Moldova will be represented by 90 sportsmen.
The Nizami Ganjavi Centre was created in September 2012, in the memory of famous Azeri poet , and focuses on boosting cultural dialogue between nations.
