Ukraine introduces new rules to entry, exit Crimea

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign and European Integration Ministry informs that, based on the Ukrainian government decision No 367 from 4 June 2015, a new procedure to enter/exit the Crimean peninsula, Ukraine, entered into force, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Thus, it is possible to enter and exit Crimea’s territory only via the border checkpoints meant for road transport ("Kalanciak", "Ciaplin" and "Ciongar") and the ones meant for railway transport ("Herson", "Melitopol", "Vadim" and "Novoalekseevka"), on the basis of special permits issued by territorial subdivisions of the State Migration Service of Ukraine.
The permits are issued in the following situations: visit to a relative who lives on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, holding properties on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, death of relatives who lived in the region, making permanent trips by railways employees or if the visit’s goal is to protect national interests of Ukraine, as well as of diplomatic staff who provide consular services.
The permits, which may be single entry or multiple entries, are to be issued in 5 working days after the set of documents is submitted, which has to include the following acts:
1) application according to the model;
2) passport (once presented is given back);
3) a document confirming the stay on Ukraine’s territory based on a legal ground;
4) a copy of the passport page with person’s identification data translated into Ukrainian language and appropriately certified;
5) documents confirming the aim of entry on temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine:
- copies of documents confirming the links to relatives of foreigners and stateless persons, as well as the residence of close relatives and family members on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine;
- a copy of the document confirming the death of close relatives who lived on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine;
- a document confirming the burial of close relatives or family members in Crimea;
- documents confirming the title on real estate;
- request or confirmation from the Foreign Ministry for diplomats;
- other documents which may confirm the goal of the visit;
6) a document confirming the holding of sufficient financial means for the period of the planned stay on Ukraine’s territory or appropriate guarantees by the host;
7) three photos 3,5 х 4,5 cm.
The permits will be issued only to adults and data on children will be introduced in the form of parents.
