Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - The political parties of the present parliament have commented on the resignation of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.
Parliament Speaker, member of the Democratic Party (PDM) Andrian Candu said he had not known about the decision of Gaburici beforehand, stressing that PDM would provide more details later on.
The deputy leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Valeriu Strelet, said that more commentaries on this subject would be made at a news conference today.
The deputy leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Valeriu Munteanu, said that Gaburici's decision showed the wish "to save his freedom", as the Prosecutor General's Office was to give its opinion on the truthfulness of his graduation diploma.
Secretary-General of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Artur Resetnicov said that the announcement of Gaburici "is not a surprise for PCRM" and that it "represents an attempt to distract the citizens' attention from the local elections due next Sunday."
The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Igor Dodon, said that Gaburici had taken his decision, so that a new parliamentary majority be subsequently created, which is to include PL as well.
The former prime minister, Iurie Leanca, will also make statements in this topic at a news conference today.
Chiril Gaburici today tendered resignation, reasoning, in particular, that he hoped that, by this decision, "there will be no more suspicions that the inquiry on his graduation diploma is objective and transparent."
