Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, at a today's news conference said he regretted the decision of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and wanted a parliamentary majority to be created as quickly as possible.
"I regret the fact that Gaburici had to take this decision, taking into account the present situation in Moldova. Yet, this is a worthy, courageous step, which will serve as a precedent for the future political class. Now, it is time to as quickly as possible identify solutions to the not at all simple situation in the country and ensure effective governance by creating a parliamentary majority, "said Filat.
The PLDM leader said that he spoke in this regard with the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu and President Nicolae Timofti, and he would also contact Liberal Party (PL) leader Mihai Ghimpu.
The Democratic Party today also issued a press release, saying that "the new situation will have to speed up the resetting of the coalition and formation of a new majority to support the government."
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Liberal Party MP Valeriu Munteanu said that the party to which he belonged "will not form a coalition with anyone as long as the country didn’t have a foreign prosecutor and those responsible for the fraud at Banca de Economii (Savings Bank) were left unpunished."
On the other hand, the leader of the Party of Socialists, Igor Dodon, said that Gaburici's decision showed that "the state is captured by oligarchs" and the current mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca, would be sworn in the office of prime minister.
Chiril Gaburici today announced his resignation, after 3.5 months of leading the government.
