Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/- Romania will provide 158,000 euros for "Creation of Integrated System of Sustainable Development of Beekeeping Sector in Moldova Nord (North) Development Region." A memorandum on the matter was signed by Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Marius Lazurca and Regional Development and Constructions Minister Vasile Bitca.
The project is meant to develop a system of procurement, storage, processing, packing of beekeeping products regionally and turn to good account honey potential in the region by creating an up-to-date marketing system.
At the same time, the project sees training of 100 local beekeepers on use of programmes on implementation of international quality standards.
"Modernisation of beekeeping producers and setting new quality standards in line with European norms will allow the beekeepers to fully benefit from advantages of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between EU and Moldova", Lazurca said.
The initiative was prepared within a twinning project in the regional development sector, completed in 2014, with the participation of Romanian and French public institutions as partners.
