Moldovan electoral body to ask cancellation of votes in Topala village

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/- The chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Iurie Ciocan, said he would request cancellation of votes in Topala village, Cimislia, after the polling station had been devastated by a group of citizens.
The head of observation mission in the 14 June local elections of Promo-LEX Association, Pavel Postica, said the incident would have been arisen due to some citizens who were dissatisfied with the fact that a candidate transported by bus a group of foreign people from other settlement to vote for him. Ballot boxes and papers have been destroyed after altercations.
The incident took place at 19:00, and until then, over 50 per cent of voters of Topala village voted, Ciocan said.
Police is investigating the case to identify persons who caused the incident and penalize them.
