Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca got most votes in Chisinau (37.52 per cent), after the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) had processed all reports. Socialist Zinaida Greceanii ranked second with 35.68 per cent.
Thus, Dorin Chirtoaca and Zinaida Greceanii will fight in the run-off election, due in two weeks.
CEC said that, after the local general elections, mayors were elected in 438 settlements and runoff polls will be organised in another 458 villages.
Repeated elections will also take place in another two settlements in two weeks, namely Ulmu village, central Ialoveni district, where the participation threshold was not reached and Topala village, southern Cimislia district, where the voting was ceased because of an incident.
Unlike the present elections, at the 5 June 2011 local general polls, mayors were elected in 645 settlements in the first round of election.
