Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, at a today's news conference said that „the pro-European forces won the local elections in Moldova” and that PLDM would not make coalition with Socialists and Our Party in the district and municipal councils.
„By these elections, the citizens reconfirmed their devotion to Moldova’s European path. The basic task is to urgently start talks on creation of coalitions in councils, in order to have a European leadership, established as soon as, possible” Filat said.
Filat highlighted that „the single thing that is not negotiated when setting up coalitions is Moldova’s European integration.”
As to the percentage got by Serafim Urechean, Filat said that not only the result achieved by the party in Chisinau city was important, but also at country level, where Liberal Democrats were elected in the mayor office in the first round in 181 mayoralties.
The PLDM candidate for the office of Chisinau mayor, Serafim Urechean, picked up 2.97 per cent of the votes. Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca (37.57 per cent) and Socialist Zinaida Greceanii (35.69 per cent) are in the top.
