Moldovan electoral bloc not to make alliance with leftist parties in councils

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - The political council of the electoral bloc European People’s Platform of Moldova (PPEM) today ruled that it would not hold negotiations with the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Party of Communists (PCRM) and Our Party Political Party (PPPN) on creation of alliances in local councils.
In a press release, the council members underlined that, although the 14 June local elections „were complicated and with multiple infringements, nevertheless the results are satisfactory”.
„It is a very good start for a new political force, which has not been registered yet and which, during the electoral campaign ,faced huge pressure,” the bloc’s leader, Iurie Leanca, said.
On 15 June, the Liberal Democrat Party’s (PLDM) leader, Vlad Filat, said that PLDM would not make alliances with PSRM and PPPN in local councils. The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu, said that the Democrats will make alliances with the pro-European parties in councils.
Also on 15 June, PSRM leader Igor Dodon highlighted that the Socialists would make alliances with PCRM and PPPN in councils. At the same time, the PCRM candidate to Chisinau mayor office, Vasile Chirtoca, today said that his formation would make alliance with those who „will vote for the good of the municipality, no matter the political colour”.
The setting up of PPEM was launched in the second half of last March.
