Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved a draft law establishing 28 June as date when the runoff poll will be held to elect mayors and councillors.
CEC head Iurie Ciocan specified that runoff election would be organised in 457 settlements.
„The registration of candidates in the ballot paper will be made in decreasing order, according to the percentage got at the 14 June elections. If one of candidates withdraws from the race, he/she will be replaced by the next one who got most votes,” Ciocan said.
The CEC head also asked the electoral contenders who participate in the runoff election to present the financial reports on expenses for the current electoral campaign till 26 June, 16:00.
At the same, repeated voting will take place in another two settlements on 28 June, namely Ulmu village, central Ialoveni district, where the participation threshold was not reached and Topala village, southern Cimislia district, where the voting was ceased because of an incident.
During the 14 June elections, mayors were elected in 438 settlements. Unlike the present elections, mayors were elected in 645 settlements in the first round of poll during the 5 June 2011 local general elections.
