Moldovan parliament adopts law on legal expertise

Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted the law on legal expertise and the status of legal expert with the votes of 87 MPs.
The draft establishes the principles of carrying out the work of legal expertise, procedure of admission in the profession of legal expert and his/her status. At the same time, the document sets the rules of issuance or withdrawal of the licence for exercising the activity of legal expert and suspending his/her activity.
“The researches and investigations carried out within the legal expertise will be made in accredited public or private laboratories. If the legal expert commits disciplinary infringements concerning his/her activity, the latter will be sanctioned by warning, reprimand, fine worth from 30 to 50 conventional units, suspension of the work for a period of up to six months or even by withdrawal of the licence of legal expert,” the draft says.
So far, the suspension of the work of legal experts, who carry out their activity at a public institution of legal expertise, has been stipulated only in the legal framework on labour legislation. At the same time, the suspension of the work of private legal experts has not been regulated.
The document was developed in order to fulfill the action plan on implementing the justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016.
The law will enter into force six months upon its publication in the Official Journal (Monitorul oficial).
