Moldovan Justice Ministry registers new political party headed by former education minister

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/-The Justice Ministry today registered a new political party entitled “Action and Solidarity Party” (PAS), headed by former Education Minister Maia Sandu.
According to the ministry’s press service, the representatives of the initiative group submitted the package of necessary documents on 19 May 2016. Though documents comply with the legal norms, the Justice Ministry noted that “certain recommendations have been issued, in order to avoid potential misunderstandings in the future, when it comes to approving and registering amendments and supplements to the political statute”.
PAS held its constitutive congress on 15 May 2016 and approved its programme, symbol and leadership.
During the event, Liliana Nicolaescu and Sergiu Musteata were elected as the party’s deputy leaders, while Igor Grosu was appointed as secretary general for a ten-year mandate.
Maia Sandu announced the launch of “In PAS cu Maia Sandu” (Abreast of Maia Sandu) movement on 23 December 2015, which laid the foundations of the new political party. Currently, PAS has 7,500 members and 20 territorial organizations.
