Moldovan labor ministry submits draft government decision to public consultations

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/- Minimum guaranteed salary in the real sector (enterprises, organizations, institutions with financial autonomy, regardless of property type and legal form) will be increased by 13.3 per cent starting from 1 May, reaching 2,380 lei per month. A draft government decision in this regard was submitted to public consultations by the Labor, Social Protection and Family Ministry.

Currently the guaranteed minimum monthly wage is 2,100 lei. According to the draft decision, the minimum guaranteed quantum is 14.09 lei per hour or 2,380 lei per month, calculated for a full programme on average 169 hours per month.

Minimum guaranteed salary in the real sector is reviewed annually by the government according to the summary annual growth of consumer price index and growth rate of labor productivity. In setting the new level, it was considered an inflation rate of 6.4 per cent (2016 compared to 2015), growth rate of gross added value by 4.8 per cent, decrease in average number of employees in 2016 against 2015 by 2 per cent.

The growth rate of labor productivity is the percentage ration between growth rate of gross added value and the average number of employees and was equal to 6.9 per cent. Thus, summary annual growth of consumer price index and labor productivity growth rate is 13.3 per cent.

The draft will be submitted to the government foe consideration and approval.

Under the legislation, in case of application by units of the tariff system of remuneration or in case of non-tariff salary, the monthly remuneration of an employee cannot be lower than the minimum guaranteed salary in the real sector established by the government after consultation with the social partners.
