Moldova marks State Flag Day today

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/- Moldova marks State Flag Day today.
The State Flag Day was set up by the Chisinau parliament on 23 April 2010. The tricolor was officially designated on 27 April 1990 by MPs of the first parliament and was flown on the legislature building the same day.
In 2012, on the occasion of the State Flag Day, marked for the third time, a huge flag with dimensions of 7×3.5 meters was hoisted in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on a mast of 30 meters high.
Cultural and educational activities, book exhibitions on history of the state and evolution of flags during the history of the state, thematic excursions dedicated to the State Flag Day are organized on this occasion.
The State Flag of Moldova is a major official symbol of sovereignty and independence of Moldova. It is a rectangular canvas, a vertical tricolor of blue, yellow and red, with the coat of arms of Moldova on the centre.
