Moldovan parliament ratifies Paris climate change agreement

Chisinau, 04 May /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament ratified the Paris Climate Change Agreement today, which was signed on 12 December 2015.
The document was examined in two readings and approved with the vote of 80 Parliament members. It aims to strengthen the global response to the threat posed by climate change in the context of sustainable development and efforts to eradicate poverty, including by limiting global warming below 2ºC beyond pre-industrial levels.
According to the document, Moldova will contribute to reducing the total national greenhouse gas emissions by at least 67 per cent by 2030 compared to the level of 1990. The actions will support international efforts to limit the global average temperature increase. According to the document, becoming a party to the Agreement, Moldova will have access to the funds provided by the international financial mechanisms.
Also 04 May current year, the MPs had hearings of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council report for 2016.
