Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/- Spokesman of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM) Vitalie Gamurari today denied the information in the media that party leader Vlad Plahotniuc would have been prosecuted in Romania.
The quoted source described the statements as “a brutal fake, which involves a new manipulation campaign in public space”. “Mr. Plahotniuc is not investigated in Romania, the document is an old research ordinance that the reported facts and not a research on the name of the Democrat leader. In fact, it is about a criminal complaint filed by defendant Veaceslav Platon against Mr. Plahotniuc. Thus, some time ago, the Romanian prosecution authorities proceeded to register and verify it, as the law obliges. Also, the complaint refers to issues that beyond their fake character, have no connection with Romania”, Gamurari said.
Also, Gamurari noted that Plahotniuc, knowing that such manipulation in the Moldovan media is preparing, has formulated through lawyers, even in the summer, requests to the Romanian law enforcement bodies to be informed if he has any quality in any criminal case. “The answers were relevant, there is no quality in any criminal case for Mr. Plahotniuc or if such a quality existed, it would have been aware of it, according to the Code of Criminal Procedure, which has not happened so far. At the same time, Mr.Plahotniuc spoke on the issue early in the year, responding to questions sent by a news agency, when he said it was a fake denunciation, and that after the data from him are denied by the Romanian criminal investigation bodies, he will make a criminal complaint against the denouncer for slanderous denunciation”, the source reads.
Gamurari noted that the information in media represents “an early start of the election campaign”. “It is interesting that those who denounce or give interviews with accusations against Mr. Plahotniuc are either criminals investigated for laundering billions of dollars or convicted criminals, people who either make it out of revenge because they have come to answer before the law or other interests. The worst is that their statements are presented by some media institutions as great discoveries of truth, made by people of highest credibility, not by convicts in jail”, he said.
A local TV channel yesterday presented an order on criminal prosecution on Vlad Plahotniuc. He would have been denounced by Veaceslav Platon, who blames him for organizing a criminal group that would have taken stock packages from a bank in the country.
