Moldovan government approves signing of Agreement on EU’s macro – financial assistance

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Government approved today the signing of the Loan Agreement between Moldova and the EU regarding the macro – financial assistance for Moldova and the Memorandum of Understanding as an integral part of the Agreement, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The signing of the documents will create favourable conditions for sustainable economic growth, maintaining fiscal and macroeconomic stability.

The macro – financial assistance programme for Moldova involves allocation of €100 million, out of which €60 million to be provided as a loan and €40 million in as a grant.

The disbursements will be made in 2018, in three equal installments, following the progress made in implementing the EU’s 28 terms and conditions. These ones relate to public governance, fighting corruption, energy sector reforms, governance in the financial sector, business environment.

The loan will be granted for 15 years maximum and the interest rate applied for each tranche will depend on the cost to be borrowed by the European Commission on the international financial market.
