Moldovan scientists urged to apply for European Cooperation in Science and Technology programme

Chisinau, 04 May /MOLDPRES/ – Moldovan scholars can apply for the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) programme. An information session on this topic took place in Chisinau today.
The Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, Deputy Head of Section, Projects within the EU Delegation in Moldova, Marco Gemmer, COST President, Ronald de Bruin, experts and researchers have attended the event.
The Head of Education urged researchers to participate within programme and announced that Moldova might join COST Association in 2018, including 36 countries.
"The inclusion of researchers from Moldova, especially young people, in activities organised under COST Programme will represent valuable experience, real progress in research and innovation fields, alignment with European standards, new ideas and new research topics and winning of international projects," said the official.
The programme was initiated in 1971 at the Ministerial Conference in Brussels and is first European instrument to support scientific and technological cooperation of researchers in Europe. Association of COST currently constitutes 36 members and 1 cooperating state, and 17 European countries in the vicinity of COST are eligible for funding, including the Republic of Moldova.
