Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/- A new post of rescuers and volunteer firefighters was opened in Speia village, Anenii Noi district, on 21 June. The station was opened thanks to the support of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the local public authorities.
“We will help promoting volunteering and opening more rescuers and fire-fighting stations in the country. In an exceptional situation they can be the primary force of intervention," IGSU head, Major General Mihail Harabagiu said.
IGSU provided vehicles for volunteer firefighters and training rescuers.
According to the Inspectorate, more than 40 fire stations have been launched in Moldova under the programme on consolidation of rescuers and firefighters service since 2011. According to this project, over 100 local stations will be launched in the country by 2020.
