Moldovan government to earmark 5 million lei to back diaspora initiatives

Chisinau, 1 August /MOLDPRE/- Moldovans living abroad are encouraged to invest in the development of their localities. The authors of the projects will be financially supported by the Government, which has allocated five million lei for this year, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Diaspora Home Successful "DAR 1 + 3" programme, approved today by the Government, is provided for 2018-2025 and involves supporting infrastructure projects, agriculture, environmental protection, energy efficiency, as well as promoting rural tourism. Educational and social protection projects will also be eligible, including the opening of medical centers or social canteens.
This year, the government will financially support 25 projects on local development. An amount of up to 200 thousand lei will be allocated for a project from the state budget, covering up to 50% of the expenses.
The basic condition for obtaining state funding under the "DAR 1 + 3" Program is that the beneficiary has a financial contribution and be supported by local authorities and a development partner or donor.
In 2015-2018, 36 projects promoted by the diaspora were implemented in 40 localities.
