First case of AH1N1 flu registered in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - The first case of the AH1N1 flu from this season has been registered in Chisinau. Statements to this effect were made at a today’s meeting of the Chisinau city hall’s services.
According to the information presented, the person is 58 years old. Presently, this person is hospitalized at the Chisinau-based Toma Ciorba Hospital of Infectious Diseases in a state of medium seriousness. The sick person was not vaccinated.
At the same time, more than 2,700 people appealed to public medical institutions with acute respiratory infections last week, up by 14 per cent against two weeks ago, when 2,400 cases were recorded. Children up to four years of age are the worst hit. Also last week, 11 cases of tuberculosis were documented.
The local authorities informed that, at present, the campaign of vaccination against flu continued. As much as 24 per cent of the stocks of vaccines were used till late last October.
