Moldovan PM meets secretary of state of French Foreign Affairs Ministry

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Maia Sandu today met Secretary of State for European Affairs of France Amélie de Montchalin, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

At the meeting, Maia Sandu thanked the French side for the support provided to back the Moldovan cabinet in strengthening the democracy in Moldova. The PM stressed that the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement remained a priority for the government’s reforms agenda.  

The officials also discussed the promotion of more projects on inter-connection with EU and attracting French investments to infrastructure, especially the renovation of the Chisinau-Ungheni railway segment.  

For her part, Amélie de Montchalin noted the importance of the Eastern Partnership instrument and the need to deepen and consolidate the partnership in diverse sectors, so that the EU’s partner states, including Moldova, get as many as possible tangible benefits.   

Also today, the governments of Moldova and France signed a Letter of Intent on a project on restoration and modernization of the Chisinau – Ungheni railway segment. The document was signed by Economics and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Brinzan and Secretary of State for European Affairs of France Amélie de Montchalin.

Maia Sandu thanked the French side for the support provided. She emphasized that the Moldovan authorities were interested in taking over the experience and good practices of the EU member states and continuing the cooperation in key sectors, such as fighting corruption and money laundering or justice reform.
