Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - A draft providing for the amendment of the law on competition was registered in parliament today. The head of the juridical commission for rules and immunities, Sergiu Litvinenco, has made statements to this effect.
According to Litvinenco, the draft was worked out with the support of the Independent Press Association and sees new rules for the advertising market. The document will be subjected to public discussions on the next period.
The document registered in parliament is meant to adjust the national legislation in the competition sector to the European standards and to make more responsible and optimize the work of the Competition Council. The draft has seven theses and sets the establishment of specific thresholds and indexes for the advertising market and the Competition Council will be obliged, under the law, to consider eventual cartel agreements.
The legislative initiative also comes up with new rules for the central and local public authorities, who buy advertising time. These authorities will be obliged to publish the contracts on their official web-pages.
To become law, the draft is to be discussed and approved in two readings in parliament’s plenum.
